haiku hamlet

MARCH

daylight discovers
gristley grounded memo
feathers dusting lawn

APRIL

breeze blown petals float
sunspots on rippling surface
a newt's eye view

MAY

in out spokes of wire
Goldfinch skitterflit and perch
a telephone rings

contrails criss-cross
cerulean breakfast sky
glistening snail footprints

black flags uplifted
flapping, fly the cliff face -
feathered anarchists

tested boy muscles
blossom shaking six-year-old
snow litters pavement

dangling catkins drop
soggy caterpillars swim
on rain-wet pavement

JUNE

step into cloudbreak
pupils shrink, lenses darken
shadow messages

sweet sneeze of mown grass
brings spangled Starlings stabbing
gangsters boss the lawn

street lamp shines sulphur
through breeze-blown leaves, flickering
night sky embers float

every day a leg
one left over waves in air
spider abseils thread

sudden froglets leap
disturbing duckweed surface
metamorphic life

JULY

fields left fallow
sustain soar of Skylarks
housing estate soon

half-shadowed, half-lit
dragonflies zigzag the rift
blue between platforms

AUGUST

harvest storm warning
wind rattles the open sash
a dead leaf blows in

SEPTEMBER

suntanned arms compared
pick the raspberry twilight
pupils back at school

NOVEMBER

 all is silent white
blown swirling into strange waves –
frozen drift current
